The Luxury of Silversea

Written By:

Large Suites – The smallest accommodation on the five boutique size Silversea ships is 240 sq ft. All Silversea ships have suites with ocean views, (85% of them with balconies) and Butler Service. Silversea’s range of accommodation offers one of the highest space-per-guest ratios on any luxury cruise ship and a guest to staff ratio of nearly 1:1. Silver Spirit, the largest and newest ship carries 540 passengers, Silver Cloud and Silver Wind 296 passengers and Silver Whisper and Silver Shadow 382 passengers.

Unprecedented Service from your personal Butler. On Silversea ships your Butler is there to cater to your every need (24/7), be it unpacking for you on arrival, refreshing your mini bar with large bottles of your favourite drink, making sure that you pick the correct pillow from the 9 choice pillow menu and that your marble bathroom is filled with your choice of Bulgari, Ferragamo or hypoallergenic bath amenities. All staff on board Silversea ships are trained by the leading hotels of the world, with Butlers being specifically trained by The Guild of Professional English Butlers.

Xtras On Board? So much is included in the price of a Silversea cruise: gratuities to all staff on board, 24 hour room service. including in suite dining, select wines, premium spirits, speciality coffees and soft drinks including in suite mini bar and from 2015 – WiFi on Mediterranean itineraries, dependent on suite grade and Silver Shore Select Excursions, which are offered on a first come first served basis, in every port of call at no additional charge (additional shore excursions are also available to purchase).

Unique Shore Excursions are available with Silversea - the essence of luxury cruise travel is not just where you go, but what you do once you arrive. In addition to the Shore Select Excursions mentioned above, you can also book Silver Shore Privato (create your own itinerary with the help of the on board Silver Shore Concierge and enjoy a private car service for yourselves or with new found friends). Alternatively you may prefer to explore philanthropic opportunities ashore with Silver Shore Good Citizen; supporting communities local to your port of call or even enjoy a running commentary in the hushed environment of a museum of your choice, with Silver Shore Sotto Voce.

Restaurants on board offer the fine dining you would expect due to Silversea’s partnership with the prestigious Grands Chefs Relais & Chateaux. On all the five boutique ships, there is a main dining room (The Restaurant) which is open dining, in addition to La Terrazza (Italian cuisine), The Pool Bar & Grill for lunches and lighter, more informal evening meals (grill your own seafood or steak) and Le Champagne, the only Relais & Chateaux restaurant at sea, which serves dinner for a small additional charge. There is also the option of in suite dining – course by course and cruise lite dining for the calorie conscious.

Yap, Yangon and Yakutat – just some of the ports of call visited by Silversea. Their itineraries visit up to 800 destinations on 7 continents. The size of the Silversea fleet means that you can glide into small, secluded harbours with Itineraries including many ports with late-night or overnight departures allowing you more time to experience the local culture. The five boutique ships visit eleven of the fifteen areas of the world where Silversea sail: from the British Isles & Northern Europe to Micronesia, Melanesia & Polynesia, or Canada & New England to Asia. The 2016 World Cruise visits 51 ports and 31 countries, in 115 days. If time is not on your side why not take a Grand Voyage and sail for a month or more along the traditional routes of the ancient traders and explorers? Silversea also offer culinary, wine and bridge voyages.
