Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas

After a relatively quiet year in terms of ship launches in 2017, Royal Caribbean is returning bigger and better than ever before in 2018. The line is renowned for continuing to break the boundaries in terms of cruise ship possibilities and introducing new and exciting elements. Previous new-builds have seen features such as robotic bartenders, living garden environments, rising viewing platforms, dazzling slides, bumper cars and much more.

On 31st March 2018, Symphony of the Seas will become the newest addition to the Royal Caribbean fleet, becoming the largest passenger in the world at the same time (230,000 GT). She will join Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas as the fourth addition to the Oasis-class fleet, making her home in Barcelona for the summer season. Here, she will operate a series of five and seven-night Mediterranean sailings before repositioning in Miami for the autumn and winter seasons. This week, we take a look at some of the new and exciting features that will blow you away aboard Symphony of the Seas this summer.

Laser Tag

Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas

At certain points throughout each day aboard Symphony of the Seas, a journey to ‘Studio B’ will enable you to try your hand at ice skating. Come back at a different time, however, and you may end up stumbling upon an abandoned space station. There is no reason to be alarmed though – this is the venue for Royal Caribbean’s first ever laser tag arena. Team up with friends and family to take on other cruisers are you battle your way through this adrenaline-pumping activity.

Harmony of the Seas wowed cruisers in 2016 with the introduction of the Ultimate Abyss slide, which provided an exhilarating new thrill ride and the aboard the ship. Now, the Ultimate Abyss slide is returning bigger and better than ever before, with a new 100ft drop awaiting the most daring of passengers. The new slide will take passengers from the top deck to the lower levels within a matter of seconds – providing the fastest way to travel up and down and decks of the ship. Also returning to Symphony of the Seas is the colourful water slides – which offer all the fun of a water park available on your doorstep.

New Restaurants and Bars

A total of four new venues will make their debut for Royal Caribbean aboard Symphony of the Seas that are sure to tickle the taste buds and delight the senses. If you’re in need of a sweet treat, Sugar Rush has got you covered. Here, you can choose from an extensive range of confectionary and homemade ice cream flavours within a unique and brightly-coloured setting.

Whether you are looking to enjoy a special celebration or just want to get the whole family together – there are two new venues offering succulent ingredients and fresh flavours that will blow you away. Hooked Seafood offers a collection of fresh fish and seafood for you to choose from, while El Loco Fresh is your go-to place for vibrant Mexican cuisine, with dishes including beef burritos, fish tacos with essential side of fresh guacamole.

Finally, there’s the Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, where you can catch up with friends and family over a refreshing beer while watching all the latest sports events.

New Entertainment

Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas

One of the finest aspects of any cruise holiday is the quality of the evening entertainment available on board. Guests on board Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas will be far from disappointed with the overall offering available – with some truly dazzling performances available to choose from. Flight offers a journey through the history of air-based travel, while 1977 tells the story of Tempus, the time-travelling hero. Symphony of the Seas will be unveiled to the world in as little as 45 days from now, so the countdown is on to book your place on board this magnificent vessel.
