Experience the new and improved Independence of the Seas - April 2018

GoCruise – 24/04/18

Royal Caribbean has confirmed that their iconic vessel, Independence of the Seas, will be returning to the UK for the summer seasons of 2018 and 2019. This impressive ship will operate her first ex-UK sailing on 15th May 2018 with a taster cruise out of Southampton. She will then operate a number of sailings to a range of destinations including the Norwegian fjords, Ireland, the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean.

Since her first sailing in 2008, she has become a popular vessel with British passengers, regularly operating itineraries out of Southampton. This month, she is undergoing an expansive refit prior to her first departure out of the British port in 2018. The expansive modernisation will see a number of exciting new features added, as well as a number of new staterooms. This week, GoCruise takes a look at what passengers may be able to expect aboard this amazing vessel next month.

Dining Options

It should be pointed out that Royal Caribbean is pulling all the stops with Independence of the Seas to ensure she caters for a British audience. This is no more apparent than with the addition of the new Fish and Ships dining venue where, as the name suggests, passengers will be able to enjoy the classic British dish on their holidays.

If your favourite Premier League team is playing or you are hoping to watch coverage of the World Cup, you will love the all-new Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade. This is the perfect place to catch up with friends and family and enjoy a traditional beverage and some pub grub. Meanwhile, younger passengers will certainly enjoy the delights of Sugar Beach Candy & Ice Cream store, where there will be a huge selection of sweet treats available.

One of the down sides of travelling anywhere on a cruise out of the UK is having to spend time at sea. However, aboard Independence of the Seas, passengers are spoilt for choice with things to see and do during their time on board. If you are looking to cool off, you may enjoy the twists and turns of the new colourful waterslides and the Splashaway Bay water park.

Perhaps one of the most exciting new additions to feature aboard Independence of the Seas will be the bungee trampoline park, complete with a virtual reality experience. Passengers will be able to jump to dizzying heights above the top deck of the ship while also enjoying the surroundings of a completely virtual universe. Finally, there is the escape room – a popular attraction that has popped up in various locations on land and is now set to make its debut aboard Independence of the Seas.

Independence of the Seas will be the place to be during the summer season of 2018. The ship will operate a number of itineraries from May through to October, providing plenty of exciting cruising opportunities.
