Enchanted Princess to join Princess Cruises fleet in 2020 - August 2018
GoCruise – 21/08/18 - Princess Cruises
Princess Cruises has gained a reputation for putting the fun back into cruising and can even be attributed with saving what was once considered a dying industry. The line rose to stardom following the highly-acclaimed ‘The Love Boat’ TV series, which first aired in 1983 and revolved around the line’s former ship, Pacific Princess.
This came at a time when passenger flight services were becoming cheaper and the appeal for travelling by boat was becoming less and less apparent. People began to fall in love with the concept of cruising – the idea of spending days on end relaxing at sea, enjoying great food, spectacular entertainment and much more while also being able to travel to a range of destinations in a short period of time.
Fast forward 20 years to 2013, when the line unveiled its first Royal-class ship - Royal Princess - and it is clear to see that this standard has been maintained through to this day. The ship offers more dining options than all previous ships in the fleet along with larger public areas including a movie theatre and central Piazza atrium. Along with this, there is also a glass-floored walkway that arcs out over the side of the ship and enables passengers to look straight down into the sea below. Two sister ships have since joined the Royal-class fleet, with Regal Princess launching in 2014 and Majestic Princess launching in 2017.
This class of ship has proven to be so popular that the line has already announced plans to launch two additional ships – due to launch in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Last week, the latter of these was confirmed as Enchanted Princess and she will offer all the popular features found aboard her sister ships along with some exciting new additions. The first of these will be the addition of a new Sky Suite cabin category, which will offer a whopping 1,565 square feet of space including a balcony area and windows offering 270-degree views out to sea.
After 2020, the line has also announced plans to launch an additional three ships which are due to launch in 2022, 2023 and 2025 respectively. Of these, the 2023 and 2025 vessels will be of a completely brand new class of ship and will become the first Princess Cruises ships to be powered by liquefied natural gas.
