Captains in Cadiz - September 2018

Ian Warren – 14/09/18

On 10thSeptember 2018, in sunny Cadiz, the four ships in the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines fleet met up for only the second time ever, at the Captains in Cadiz event. The previous occasion the fleet had met in one place was on 28th July 2015 at the Four Ships in Bergen Event. Take a look below to see what the passengers enjoyed during their time in Cadiz, and if you like what you see, why not make sure of your place at the next fleet reunion on 4th April 2020, at the Four Fred.s in Funchal event. Call GoCruise with Ian for an up-to-date check on availability and price on 01455821770 or 08002922850.

Captains in Cadiz

As you will see in the video below, all four ships were berthed in a row in the port of Cadiz. The 4,000 passengers had plenty to do, with music and festivities all day, including live bands, Flamenco dancing, sherry sampling and a treasure hunt. There was even a tug of war competition, between the crew of the 4 ships, Balmoral, Braemar, Boudicca and Black Watch. Each ship has 2 Captains, with one onboard and one on leave, but all 8 attended the Cadiz event, as did the Chairman, and Managing Director of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.

Passengers were even able to visit all the ships in the fleet, either to see how the other ships compared to the one they were on, or to catch up with friendly crew members they knew from previous cruises. Then at 5pm the fleet left the quayside, to the sounds of a local Jazz band, and were led out of the harbour by a fire tug boat, spraying its water cannons. The ships were then heading off to different destinations, with their passengers all having their own special memories of the day.
